7th Annual Welcome House Breakfast Featuring Wes Geer
Wednesday, April 15, 2020 – Overland Park Convention Center
7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Wesley Geer will be the featured keynote at the 7th Annual Welcome House Breakfast on April 15, 2020, at the Overland Park Convention Center. A professional musician for over 25 years best known as founder of Jive Records’ rock fusion group Hed PE, Geer toured the world for eight years before leaving the band for a lifestyle change and ultimately landed in rehab.
In 2010, after 3 years of sobriety, he was approached to play with the legendary band Korn as a touring guitarist, traveling to 42 countries, headlining shows, and playing to crowds of 80,000 people. His music has been featured in films, television, video games and radio.
Today Geer leads Rock to Recovery, a nonprofit dedicated to “soothing the restless souls of those in recovery.” His inspiring journey and powerful message promises to be one you won’t soon forget.
“When I was in treatment, I realized how much music could help [me] get through those tough emotions that run so rampant, especially in the early days. Being totally sober and dealing with the bottom I had hit – strumming the guitar was the only thing that would bring me peace,” he says.
The breakfast event is complimentary, though guests will have an opportunity to share a charitable donation to benefit Welcome House.

Meet our 2020 Co-Chairs
Welcome House board members Dr. Heather Hale (left) and Ms. Katie Castro (right) are co-chairs of the 7th Annual Welcome House Breakfast.
Dr. Hale is Director of Clinical Services for Great Lakes Educational Consulting, LLC. Ms. Castro serves as director of membership for Nonprofit Connect.
“Heather and I are honored to lead this year’s breakfast – an event that just gets bigger and better each year,” says Katie.
“Our goal is to recruit at least 100 individuals to serve as table captains who, in turn, will each invite 9 guests,” adds Heather. “Because almost everyone knows someone whose life has been impacted by alcoholism and/or drug addiction, anyone can be a table captain. It is a great way to meet some amazing people and make a difference right here in our community!”

A Breakfast of Champions!
Since its beginning in 2014, the Annual Welcome House Breakfast has transformed the face of recovery in Kansas City. This event is way more than breakfast, high-caliber speakers, and the most exciting raffle and prizes in town. It is a strong and mighty community of champions who advocate for the life-giving, life-saving mission of Welcome House.
It’s a mission that has inspired kindness, caring and generosity for nearly 50 years. We hope you will join us for a unique, exciting and memorable morning on April 15th!
